Abstract

A special relationship links Rome and Madrid in the field of Decorative Arts. The main aim of this article is to examine in depth the presence of some reliquaries both into the Monasterios Reales of Descalzas Reales and the Encarnación of Madrid that were made in the XVII and in the XVIII centuries in Rome. The researches carried out both at the Archivio di Stato in Rome and at Archivo General of Palacio Real in Madrid made possible to put in evidence documents that reveal some aspects that could rebuild the history of these artworks. The analysis of the documents and the investigation of the religious Artworks made it possible to ascertain the “precious” bound between Rome and Madrid.
