Abstract

This article, a written conference, concerns a selection of XVI century Jewellery, utlising the Spanish Television series Charles V King Emperor as a pretext. The article showcases the Royal Family’s Jewellery preferences, from Charles and his wife Elizabeth, to his aunts Margaret and Catherine, and his sisters Eleanor, Elizabeth, Mary and Catherine. Jewellery, portraits, images from the TV series and, in some cases, documents, are used by the autor to explain simple facts around such a “rich” decorative art as Jewellery, and also to explore its uses and in some cases superstitious beliefs around them having magical properties.
