The kimono as a tourist icon
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this research the kimono is studied from an identity perspective. The icon construction is very close to the stereotypes construction because both simplify the way we look at the world and live in it. The kimono is a characteristic costume of Japan, and it was in the past, and continues to be, an advertising claim to bring us closer to this country and its culture. Since Japan opened the frontiers at the middle of the 19th century, the Westerners have wished to wear a kimono and to visit its country of origin.
