Tradition and Modernity: Isaac Díaz Pardo’s furniture and architecture at the Carlos Maside Museum
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article analyses the combination of tradition and modernity in the work of Isaac Díaz Pardo through the study of the furniture he designed for the Carlos Maside Museum, with special focus on the chair as an industrial design object. After a contextualization of the Laboratorio de Formas de Galicia and the museum project, it delves into the relevance of the chair and other pieces as an expression of a total design approach that links art, industry and Galician cultural memory. The research combines historical and graphic analysis using axonometric drawings to demonstrate how these objects, serializable and rooted in traditional carpentry, contribute to structuring the architectural space of the auditorium. The study highlights the influence of European references such as Bauhaus and Vkhutemas, underlining the uniqueness of Galician design in the XXth century proposing a perspective that places the design object at the centre of the architectural discourse
