3D technology applied to gilt leathers' restoration in Cordoba (Spain): an interdisciplinary proyect from Mateo Inurria School of Arts and Design
Main Article Content
Abstract
The institutions formerly known as «schools of industrial arts» were established at the dawn of the 20th century with the aim of training professionals to achieve designs and more efficient productions both aesthetically and functionally. Sensitive to the evolving realities of the environment’s needs, these institutions embody the symbiosis between traditional crafts and the possibilities offered by new technologies.
An interdisciplinary group of teachers from Mateo Inurria School of Arts and Design in Cordoba (Spain) set out to emulate the methods used to create the famous gilded embossed leatherworks of the Modern Age through the application of 3D techniques. These techniques intend to recreate the tools (now lost) that were once employed on the occasion of the centenary of the acquisition of the collection of gilded leatherworks for the palace of Viana in Cordoba.
