The stained glass windows of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Gijón

Abstract
On May 30, 1924, the apostolic nuncio, Cardinal Federico Tedeschini, consecrated in Gijón the church that the Jesuit congregation had erected in one of its most central streets under the patronage of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Praised since its beginnings for the quality and lavishness of its decoration, today the Basilica Menor houses more than 200 square meters of stained glass windows spread over 100 openings, making it one of the largest and most important religious stained glass ensembles in Asturias. The purpose of this article is to present the results of the study of these stained glass windows that are being carried out on the occasion of the first centenary of the church.
