Josep Sarró And The Enamelled Glass. A Doctor Passionate About The Arts Of Fire
Main Article Content
Abstract
Josep Sarró (Barcelona, 1897-1957) was an outstanding doctor who produced an interesting body of artistic work in the private sphere. His enamelled glass objects (glasses, goblets and vase) and his sketches to be made in this technique show us a varied and eclectic aesthetic, in line with some contemporary artists. His work should be placed in the period of the boom that the Escola Superior de Bells Oficis promoted within the cultural framework of Noucentisme, which to a large extent lasted for much of the twentieth century. His contribution was also remarkable in other areas of the decorative arts, particularly in ceramics and goldsmithing. Lately, he has achieved repercussion thanks to the purchase of most of his known work by the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas (Madrid).
