French Table Clocks In The Collection Of The Museo Nacional De Artes Decorativas. The Regency, Louis Xv And Louis Xvi Styles

Abstract
The Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas houses an important collection of table clocks made in France. Since the origin of this typology in the Renaissance, the formal and technical characteristics have undergone a remarkable evolution. This article presents the most representative examples of the Regency, Louis XV and Louis XVI styles made during the 18th and 19th centuries and presents unpublished data on their authorship, provenance, date of production, materials and techniques, and descriptions of their cases, dials and mechanisms.
