The jewels of “La Amarguilla” and other X century treasures
Main Article Content
Abstract
The exhibition “The Jewels of la Amarguilla”, which has been shown in the Archaeological Museum of Cordoba, has given the opportunity to discover a treasure of an exceptional size and quality. There exist many unknown aspects both concerning the pieces themselves and the ensemble, but, like this one, some other treasures were buried during the very last period of the Cordoban Caliphate due to the political instability that unleashed the fitna (civil war), which led to Taifa kingdoms in the XI century. The comparative analysis of the different treasures demonstrates deep relations among them all, only been understood if the pieces were made in the same atelier, what might help the comprehension of commercial and familiar relationships in that moment.
